JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) - The suspect involved in a car chase with police in Jacksonville has been apprehended.
Jacksonville police say their officers assisted in a chase involving the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office after a suspect fled an attempted traffic stop on Canada Street just after noon. The suspect fled in his vehicle down several city streets before bailing out of the car near Beaumont Street and Hwy 79, officials say.
The suspect exited the vehicle and continued to flee on foot. According to Cherokee Sheriff's Office Sgt. Gina Battley, he was found hiding in a culvert on Wesley Street.
Battley says the suspect is a 17-year-old male from Rusk. He has warrants out for his arrest from Cherokee County (failure to appear, theft and failure to appear, evading arrest with vehicle) as well as others in Smith and Rusk counties, Battley says.
The suspect's identity will not be released until after his arraignment, Battley says.
