BOWIE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Deputies with the Bowie County Sheriff's Office arrested five people on felony and misdemeanor drug charges Sunday following a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 59 South.

According to a press release, a BCSO deputy received a tip that a man named Dustin Kyle Hunter would be bringing methamphetamine to a location in the 6300 block of U.S. Highway 59 South in Texarkana. Around 10:45 p.m., the deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description of Hunter's car.

The BCSO deputy caught up with Hunter and stopped him for speeding. A consensual search of Hunter's car turned up nothing illegal, but two blue plastic bags containing about 7.5 grams of meth were located in a fanny pack that Hunter was wearing, the press release stated.

At that point, Hunter told the deputy that he had about one gram of meth at his home, the press release stated. The BCSO deputy then took Hunter to his home in the 900 block of Elliott Road, where the deputy found Ashley Elyse McGee, Jordan Shelby Brower, and Hubert Earl Morine.

The deputy found that Brower and Morine had outstanding warrants and arrested them, the press release stated.

After Morine was taken into custody, the deputy allegedly found a syringe filled with meth on Morine's person during a search. A consensual search of McGee's backpack also turned up a syringe filled with meth, the press release stated.

As a result. McGee was arrested as well.

While the BCSO was investigating inside Hunter's home, a Bowie County Sheriff's Office lieutenant spoke to a man found asleep in the backseat of a vehicle that had the smell of marijuana coming from it. The man told the BCSO lieutenant that he and Kristy Dawn Minton had driven to Hunter's house to hang out.

A search of the vehicle the man was found in turned up a purse containing a Ziploc bag that had marijuana in it and a Mason jar that had hash, marijuana, and items that indicated the purse belonged to Minton, who arrived back at the location a short time later, the press release stated.
Minton allegedly claimed ownership of the purse and everything in it but the drugs.

While at the Bi-State Jail, McGee told a BCSO deputy that she needed to be alone to vomit, the press release stated. After McGee was told she would not be alone until she was processed and provided a safe place to throw up, she allegedly removed two bags of meth from her bra and handed them to the deputy.

While Brower was being transported to the jail, she admitted that she had a bag of meth in her bra, the press release stated.  That bag of meth was recovered after she got to the jail.

The charges and bond amounts include:

  • Hunter, 33, of Texarkana, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams. His bond amount was set at $25,000.
  • McGee, 30, of Texarkana, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance between 1 and 4 grams, and her bond amount was set at $3,000.
