UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - An Upshur County student has been arrested and charged after an alleged threat was made against a high school personnel.
The Upshur County Sheriff's Office released a statement in regards to an incident on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at New Diana High School.
According to the statement, deputies responded Tuesday morning to the high school after they had been notified about a student who allegedly made a threat against one of the staff members at the school.
Upon the student's arrival to the school, authorities met with him and deemed there was no threat. Authorities did not locate a weapon, according to the statement.
After a series of interviews, it was confirmed that the threats had been made the day before, officials say. According to the statement, the student commented he would cause serious bodily injury to the staff members.
The identity of the student is withheld because he is a juvenile, but he was arrested and charged with terroristic threat, officials say.
The student was transported to the Gregg County Juvenile Detention Center, Upshur County officials said.
