LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A Longview woman was taken to the hospital after she opened her front door to a man who attacked and assaulted her.

It happened at a duplex on Dawn Circle around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Longview Police were searching the neighborhood for a suspect just minutes after the call.

Andrew Starr has lived with his daughter and grandchildren for about a year. He said it had been a very quiet area until now. He said his daughter was expecting him to be back home when she heard the doorknob turn.

"So she opened the door, thought I needed help. And when she opened the door he attacked her and took her down. She fought him and he fought her," Andrew said.

Andrew was moments away from being home.

"He had busted her lip and beat her head against the floor and threw her against a marble table," Andrew relayed.

He said the attacker had been shouting at his daughter.

"Asking 'where she was...' we don't know who 'she' is, so I don't know," Andrew stated.

Andrew says the man just got up and ran off. His daughter called 911 and Andrew came home.

"He was done gone, and she was on the floor in there," Andrew recalled.

But that was the attacker's second time to their door.

"See, he'd been here earlier; tried to get in. Caught him at it and he ran off. Well, he turned around and went and changed clothes and come back and tried to get in again," Andrew said.

Andrew had left for a few minutes then returned. Several police units responded and searched for a suspect, but didn't find one.

"You can't do anything when something like that happens that fast," Andrew added.

Police say neither the victim nor the neighbors know who he is.

Authorities are looking for a 35-40 year old white male, about 5' 10", 140 pounds, with dirty blond hair with a "scruffy" look. Longview police say he has been seen in the area several times over the last month, but has not been identified. If you spot a man in the area with that description, call Longview Police immediately.
