Dealer arrested in Henderson County after drugs, stolen pistol found in vehicle

HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A suspected Henderson County drug dealer has been arrested after a variety of illegal drugs, and a stolen gun were found inside his vehicle.

Jamel Garrett, 29, was pulled over after committing several traffic violations while driving on State Highway 31 toward Athens around 3:45 p.m. on Monday.

Garrett's passenger, Keshon Thomas, 25, was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found a backpack full of a variety of drugs inside the trunk. Deputies discovered crack cocaine, methamphetamines, cocaine, Xanax pills, and a sack of marijuana. In the backpack, they also found a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol, which was loaded, and had been reported stolen from the Athens area.

Garrett was charged with two felony counts of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. Thomas was charged with possession of marijuana.
