Palestine police affidavit: Man told victim sex assaults would heal cancer

PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) - A Colorado man has been booked into the Anderson County Jail following an indictment. According to an arrest affidavit, he told  the victim he had to have sex with her in order to heal his testicular cancer.

Jason Butterfield, 40, of Eaton, Colo., is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. He was booked on the charge on Thursday.

According to an arrest affidavit, the sexual assault was reported to Palestine Police on July 15, after the victim became pregnant.

The victim told police Butterfield had sexually assaulted her and said he told her this was the healing procedure needed for the testicular cancer he was suffering from.

Police obtained a warrant for Butterfield's arrest on Oct. 5.

According to KLTV news partner The Palestine Herald, Butterfield was extradited from Colorado on Thursday and was arrested on an indictment.
