LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - The 2017 crime statistics for the Longview Police Department have been released and submitted to the DPS/FBI validation process. The statistics show a decrease in violent crimes in 2017.
According to the statistics, violent crimes have seen a 21.7 percent decrease in 2017 compared to 2016. Murder incidents have seen a 30 percent decrease while aggravated assaults have seen a 25.5 percent decrease.
Police Chief Mike Bishop presented the statistics to the Longview city council on February 22. The LPD thanked their citizens for their part in lowering the crime statistics through their vigilance in reporting criminal activity. To see an interactive map of crimes in your area click here.
