EAST TEXAS (KLTV)
As a cold front moves through during the afternoon/evening hours on Saturday, the risk for strong to severe thunderstorms increases. At this time, the majority of East Texas is under a SLIGHT RISK for strong to severe storms and the NE sections of our area is now under an ENHANCED RISK for strong to severe storms. These risks are issued by the Storm Prediction Center. The difference in the two are, a SLIGHT RISK give us a 15% chance of significant severe weather and an ENHANCED RISK increases that to a 30% chance of significant severe weather. Please see the attached graphic to see what risk you are under for tomorrow. Greatest risks at this time appear to be Strong, Gusty Winds with the storms of 60 mph or more, isolated tornadoes are possible and more Flash Flooding as some areas of an additional 1" or more of rainfall will be possible. Isolated pockets of large hail will be limited to the NE sections (ENHANCED RISK AREA) with these storms.
Please make sure you have all of your batteries charged, just in case you lose power during the storms. Make sure you have downloaded the KLTV or KTRE Weather App to your phone or other devices. It is FREE. We are not going to charge you to keep you safe. Also, share with your families your severe weather procedures. Make sure everyone knows what do, just in case a Tornado Warning is issued for your area. This may not happen, but it is a good time to just go over any actions that could be needed.
