GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A fight over a female subject led to a stabbing in Liberty City, according to the Gregg County Sheriff's Office.

About 4:19 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to the 1100 block of Smallwood Road in the Liberty City in response to an assault.

When they arrived, they found Joshua Hyatt, 30, of Tatum, laying in the roadway with apparent stab wounds. EMS transported Hyatt to an area hospital.

Based on interviews with Hyatt and a witness, deputies say Hyatt and the suspect had an argument over a female subject and the argument escalated into a physical altercation which ended with Hyatt being stabbed.

The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The person's identity has not been released at this time.
