LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

A unique opportunity will be presented this weekend in Longview which will give the public a chance to tour the inner workings of local industries.

From the process of manufacturing industrial equipment to challenging the minds of young people, several businesses will be opening their doors this weekend for tours as part of 'Big Techs' week in Longview.

"February is Industry Appreciation Month and this year LEDCO and the City of Longview wanted to include the public. For us it's important to showcase how robust Longview's economy is," says Amanda Hlozek OF LEDCO.

Komatsu Mining, the former LeTourneau Industries, builds the world’s largest front end loader, and earth movers of massive proportion.

"Our products go all over the world. They go to Brazil, they go to Russia, they go to China, all over the United States. All over the world in all mining applications," says Dan Flournoy of Komatsu.

AAON products help cool us in summer and warm us in winter.

"We design and manufacture semi-custom heating ventilation and air conditioning units for commercial use. Right now we have about 375 employees," says Emily Wood of AAON.

Holt-Cat refurbishes huge heavy equipment into like-new condition.

"We rebuild engines that go into a small piece of equipment, or an industrial engine for oilfield drilling. 85-to-90 percent of the engines in here are oil and gas related, and we are growing every day," says Mark Mauritzen of Holt-Cat.

World of Wonders challenges youth to imagine and build in the mind.

"Not only are children going out to actual business and seeing how they work, but they can come into WOW and explore and create on their own," says Rhonda Bullard of WOW.

The Longview Economic Development Corporation focuses on bringing these businesses to Longview, along with jobs.

"We're successful by making other people successful, so by bringing jobs to East Texas, we're successful," Hlozek says.

To find out how they do it, you'll have to join the tour. The tours of the businesses will be held Saturday.
