RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A Mount Enterprise man has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for murder.

Lamarlon Tremone Thompson, 39, was sentenced Feb. 21 in a Rusk County courtroom. Thompson entered a guilty plea to the murder charge and the jury returned a 99-year verdict, the Rusk County District Attorney's Office reports.

Thompson was arrested back in September 2016 in connection with the death of Floyd Thompson, 60. Floyd Thompson's body was found in a well off of State Highway 315, near Mount Enterprise. He had been missing for a month.

An autopsy report showed he died for a shotgun wound to the chest. Other injuries were found on his ribs, right lung, pericardium, heart, left lung and the soft tissue of his left upper back.

At the time of the arrest, a spokesperson with the Rusk County Sheriff's Office said Lamarlon Thompson admitted to trying to conceal the crime.

The Rusk County District Attorney's Office released a statement on the conviction:

"On February 20th, 2018 the State of Texasvs. Lamarlon Tremone Thompson was called for jury trial. The State of Texas was represented by County & District Attorney Micheal Jimerson and Assistant County & District Attorney Zackery Wavrusa. The Defendant, age 39, of Mt.
