TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A 21-year-old driver got quite a scare during all of the rain today. She lost control of her vehicle and crashed her car into a power pole, creating a dangerous and tense situation.
"There were sparks going everywhere; kind of looked like the 4th of July," witness Nancy Delgado said.
That's how Nancy describes what she saw when the power lines on Shiloh Dr. came crashing down.
"I was in shock, you know," Delgado said. "First thing was go outside and see if she's okay."
Delgado says the driver jumped out of the window, assessed the damage and then headed back towards the car.
"I told her to get away from her vehicle and she kept telling me, 'my baby, my dog,'" Delgado said.
While there was no baby in the vehicle at the time of the accident, the dog was retrieved safely by police and fire crew on scene.
While Delgado is glad everyone is safe, she knows the accident could've been much worse.
"I thought she could've got electrocuted," Delgado said.
Official say if your vehicle hits a power line, stay inside and call for help.
