SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - February 20 is the first day of early voting for the March primaries.
Texas has major races going on this primary-- the election will include contested races for U.S. and State Representatives, as well as many local positions up for grabs.
Early voting will run through March 2.
If you don't know if you are registered you can check the Texas Secretary of State website.
If you plan to vote before election day-- you can head to an early voting site, show an accepted form of ID and choose which primary, republican or democrat, you'll be voting in.
Accepted forms of ID include:
- Texas driver’s license
- Election ID certificate
- Texas personal ID card
- License to carry a concealed handgun
- U.S. military ID
- U.S. citizenship certificate
- U.S. passport
Election officials suggest voters read over sample ballots to make the process faster and smoother.
