Police release details of school threat deemed as prank in East Texas

WHITE OAK, TX (KLTV) - The White Oak police have released new details in regards to a school threat that was later deemed as a prank.

According to the White Oak police department’s Facebook page, authorities received a call Friday at about 10:49 p.m., in regards to a picture, was posted online that threatened harm to the school system.

After further investigation, authorities say that the photo was taken more than a year ago of the child showing off the BB gun, received as a gift, the child in the picture was not responsible for posting the image.

White Oak police say that someone else posted the photo, along with the alarming text.

Police commented that they were able to clear up the situation within an hour after the post was brought to their attention. Authorities also interviewed the child that posted the photo.

This case remains an open investigation and no further details are available at this time.
