Alabama's Randy Owen Set To Perform Benefit Concert In Tyler

Two country music stars are working to raise money for East Texas. The announcement was made this morning at Breckenridge Village in Tyler. Randy Owen of the music group, Alabama, is going to perform with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra this fall.

Country music star, Patty Loveless, will be Owen's opening act. Proceeds from the event will benefit two mentally and developmentally challenged citizens' groups in East Texas: the Breckenridge Village and the Arc of Tyler/Smith County."

Owen says he's happy to be part of such a great cause. "I'm very, very excited about doing this and at the same time I understand it's a good cause. And it's not about me, so much as what we're doing it for."

The concert is called Growing Wings. It will take place October 8th at the Oil Palace in Tyler. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale August 29th.
