Marion County jailer arrested for credit card abuse

MARION COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

From the Marion County Sheriff's Office:

A Marion County jailer has been arrested for multiple job-related felonies. 

Timothy Harper, 25, was jailed on February 14th and charged with 5 counts of Credit/Debit Card Abuse. 

According to Marion County Sheriff David McKnight, Harper is accused of taking an inmate’s credit card out of the inmate property storage, and making five transactions, both withdrawing cash at an ATM and making purchases at local retail establishments. 

Funds totaling around $800.00 were withdraw from the credit card account.  Harper had been a part time probationary jail employee for about five months, and was terminated prior to his arrest. Harper was book into the Marion County jail, and bonds were set totaling $50,000.00. 

He posted bond February 15th and was released pending trial. “Because of our job we should be held to a higher standard.  Evidently, in this instance, this was not the case”, McKnight said.
