Smith County Sheriff's Office providing active shooter training

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Smith County Sheriff's Office is offering free active shooter training to the public for ages 13 through adult.

A press release by the Smith County Sheriff's Office stated, "As witnessed in Florida yesterday, terrible acts of violence continue to affect our lives and the lives of those we love. These events can happen anywhere at any time. Whether due to terrorism, workplace violence, or the act of a mentally unstable person, our society continues to be the target of these attacks. Are you prepared?"

The training will be held Thursday, February 22 at Lone Star Church. The address is 604 West 4th Street in Tyler.
