Governor Abbott appoints East Texas woman to Commission of Arts

MARSHALL, TX (KLTV) - One of the newest appointees of Governor Greg Abbott's Texas Commission on the Arts resides right here in East Texas.

Karen Partee works in Marshall as the executive vice president and chief marketing officer of the Texas Bank and Trust Company. She is now following in her father Bob Snead's footsteps. Snead served as a commissioner from 2000 to 2008.

Partee said she is excited and honored to hold this title and represent the people of East Texas.

"Essentially serve as an advocate for the arts throughout the states, but particularly in the region of East Texas, Partee said. "Talking about the cultural activities that we have, the arts organizations, and why they are important to the communities."

Partee was appointed to the commission along with Mary Ann Apap Heller from Austin; their term will expire on August 3, 2019. Additionally, the Governor appointed Adrian Guerra of Roma and reappointed Dale Brock of Fort Worth and Kevin Yu of Dallas to the commission for terms set to expire on August 31, 2023.
