A traffic stop in Van Zandt County resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of about 35 pounds of heroin and $18,700 in cash Thursday night.
According to a post on the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, VZCSO deputies stopped a westbound vehicle on Interstate Highway 20 with the assistance of Texas Department of Public Safety troopers. A search of the vehicle turned up two pounds of heroin.
Further investigation led Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office deputies to a home a short distance away from where the traffic stop occurred, the post stated.
"During a search of the residence with the assistance from Canton Police Department and Texas DPS, approximately 33 pounds of heroin and $18,700 in cash was located inside the residence," the Facebook post stated.
According to the post, the heroin has an estimated street value of $2.5 to $3 million.
"The suspects will not be identified pending further investigation," the Facebook post stated.
