CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The suspect who allegedly shot two people at an outdoor gathering in Jacksonville on New Year's Eve has been arrested and charged.
Carlton "Hammer" Johnson, 27, is currently in the Smith County Jail on several warrants including: evading arrest, failure to identify fugitive intent, two counts of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, 2 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, theft of property, evading arrest with previous conviction, and a parole violation.
One person was shot in the head and another in the neck on New Year's Eve in Jacksonville at a residence in the 900 block of Crockett Street. Johnson fled in a gray 2005 Jeep Cherokee. Police located the vehicle belonging to the suspect on Jan. 1 but were still searching for Johnson.
Both victims were taken to the hospital but their conditions remain unknown at this time.
Total bond for Johnson's warrants is $268,500.
