Longview resident shoots dog after witnessing attack

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - One East Texas woman received minor injuries after being attacked by several dogs, while walking her own dog.

Longview police say it happened about 8:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Neel and Cook streets in the Pine Tree area. Investigators say as the woman was walking her dog, three other dogs rushed in and attacked her dog.

As she was trying to pull them off, she was knocked down and received minor injuries.

A neighbor saw what was happening, rushed out with a rifle and fired warning shots. As two dogs ran away, the third continued the attack. The neighbor shot that animal and it fled the area.

A nearby trooper tracked the blood trail and found the dog bleeding out, and euthanized the animal.

It's unknown who the dogs belong to or if they were strays.

The woman's dog survived.
