GUN BARREL CITY,TX (KLTV) - A Collin County grand jury has indicted a Gun Barrel City man accused of stealing more than $1,750,000 from someone else.
Charles Anthony Miller, 51, is charged with first-degree theft and money laundering.
Miller was arrested in Henderson County on Dec. 15. Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said deputies arrested Miller after the US Marshals Office contacted his office.
Miller has posted a collective bond of $80,000.
According to indictments released through an open-records request on Thursday, Miller used deception to persuade someone to give him the money under false impressions.
"…and said defendant promised performance that affected the judgment of said owner in said transactions that said defendant did not intend to perform and knew would not be performed," the indictment states.
The indictment also states Miller "acted with the intent to deprive said owner of said property by withholding said property permanently and for so extended a period of time that a major portion of the value and enjoyment of said property was lost to said owner, and by disposing of said property in a manner that made recovery of said property by said owner unlikely."
The indictment lists six different occasions between 2012 and 2013 in which Miller took hundreds of thousands from one person, totaling $1,751,500.
