Peter Jennings Dies Of Lung Cancer

Peter Jennings, host of ABC's "World News Tonight" died last night of complications for lung cancer.

His career with ABC began when he was hired during the Civil Right's movement in 1964.

In 1968, he left the anchor's chair to become a foreign correspondent for the network, gaining worldwide attention during the siege of the 1972 Olympics in Munich.

After returning to anchor duties, he covered stories ranging from elections to the Millineum celebrations to the 9/11 attacks.

His last broadcast was April 5, when he announced on the air that he had lung cancer.

Peter Jennings was 67.
