Eltife Asks UIL To Reconsider Decision On Lee Game

East Texas Senator Kevin Eltife said fans of Robert E. Lee football should be able to watch their team play in the national spotlight.
So, the Senator has asked the U.I.L. to reconsider its decision on Lee's game against Ohio team Cincinnati Clerain on September 9th.
The game will be broadcast on EPSNU, but blacked out in Texas because of a U.I.L. rule against live broadcasts of games played on Friday nights.
Senator Eltife submitted a written request Friday.
"There's no reason in my opinion for them not televise it," Eltife said. "I respect the U.I.L. I understand the rule that in some cases it takes away for attendance in games in Texas, but this game is 1,000 miles away. There's no reason for it to not be televised."
The Senator said if the rule is not waived, buses could be rented and he and Red Raider fans will travel to Sreveport to watch the game.
He said he should have an answer from U.I.L. next week.
