Kilgore Hosts Texas Redneck Games

A "strange" competition is getting set to kick-off this weekend in Kilgore. It celebrates "the redneck." Thousands of people are expected to converge on "Rabbit Creek RV Park" to participate in the first "Texas Redneck Games." The 2- day event will feature competitions for "best redneck campsite" and "best redneck vehicle" as well as many other strange contests.
The organizer says he created the event to have some good- natured fun with the "redneck" label. The "Texas redneck games" begin Saturday with the lighting, not of the Olympic torch, but of a bar-b-que pit, and will feature live music both nights. The gates at "Rabbit Creek" are open until 9 p-m Sunday. Admission is 20 dollars. Children 7 and under are free. Saturday Events include the starter toss, mud pit belly flop, a spam eating contest, and the "Daisy Duke" show-off.
