TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler police recovered several gas pump skimmers during a Tuesday morning arrest.
Officers arrested Adriano Aldana-Rodriguez, 20, of Missouri City, Texas, and Nelson Isac Fernandez-Lopez, 22, of Houston, Texas.
They are each charged with unlawful use of a criminal instrument.
According to a Tyler Police Department incident report, when the men were arrested police found three gas pump skimmers, electronic wiring, two USB devices, and a card reader/encoder in Aldana-Rodriguez's possession.
The police department released a statement on the arrests later in the day.
"On Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 1:45 a.m. a patrol officer with the Tyler Police Department observed two subjects who were acting suspicious at an Exxon Gas Station located at Old Jacksonville Hwy and Lake Placid Road. Due to prior criminal activity with credit card skimming devices found at this location twice within the past few weeks, officers were looking for possible suspects involved in this activity.
The officer contacted the two suspects after observing suspicious behavior around the gas pumps around 1:45 a.m. Upon further investigation, the officer was able to locate numerous items of gas skimming devices in their vehicle that linked the suspects to being in possession of criminal instruments. Both suspects were identified and were living in the Houston area that is associated to several fraudulent skimming investigations."
Bond has been set at $1 million for each suspect and both remain in the Smith County Jail.
