Police ID victims in Tyler shooting, say incident was drug-related

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler police identified the victims of an apartment complex shooting that occurred Monday night, saying they believe the incident was drug-related.

Tuesday morning police identified the victims as Darryl Dewayne Jr. Washington, 25, of Tyler, Terry Demond Rogers, 22, of Tyler, and Nadarius Houston, 18, of Tyler.

Police say all three were shot with semi-automatic handguns.

Washington died from his injuries. Rodgers was shot multiple times and police say his condition is stable. Police also reported that Houston's condition was listed as good.

Police say Rodgers has an outstanding warrant for aggravated robbery.

At 8:31 p.m. Monday, Tyler Police Department responded to Chelsea Creek Apartments at 4920 Thistle Drive in reference to a shots fired call.

When officers arrived, they say they found three people who had been shot inside of an apartment in Building 14.

Editor's note: Initially, Tyler Police Department reported the second victim of the shooting was named Terryaun Lamar Rodgers, 23, of Tyler. Police later issued a statement correcting that information.
