Discovery May Need Another Repair Job

NASA engineers will decide today whether a fourth Discovery spacewalk will be needed.

Officials are worried that a torn thermal blanket below a cockpit window could rip away during re-entry, whip backward and damaged the shuttle. Engineers will know by this afternoon whether the danger is real and whether any blanket trimming is required.

NASA says the successful removal of some filler material hanging down from the heat tiles on the bottom of the shuttle is a "huge relief."

Today, The Discovery crew will pay tribute to the seven astronauts killed in the 2003 Columbia disaster.
