COPY-Discovery launch recorded from many angles to watch for damage

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER The launch is just the beginning of the work for a group of NASA officials assigned to ensure Discovery makes it home safely.

Two chase planes and more than 100 cameras recorded the launch from every possible angle to catch any sign of flying debris.Damage from a debris strike is blamed for Columbia's disintegration in the sky over the U-S on February first, 2003.Cameras aboard the external fuel tank this morning caught the shuttle pulling away from the jettisoned tank, high over the Earth.Officials plan to carefully examine all the recordings for any hint of danger for the shuttle.
