Dedication Ceremony Held For African American Pioneer

A dedication ceremony takes place in Tyler to honor a pioneer for African American barbers. The Texas Association of Tonsorial Artists organized the event for the late Henry Miller Morgan. He owned and operated the historical Morgan Barber College -- the first African-American barber school in the nation.

Participants such as Charles Williams, founder of the Williams Barber College, say they're thankful for the doors that Morgan helped open. "He dreamed of things that never were, that were unimaginable, and dared to do those things. And because of that we are here today, ready to unveil this plaque in his honor."

More than 50 people, from all over Texas, were on hand for today's event.
