Kids Of Steel: Triathlon Test Of Endurance, Lesson In Fun

Some young East Texans proved to have will as well as legs and arms of steel.
Early Saturday morning 75 kids competed in the fifth annual "Kids Only Triathlon" at Hide-a-way. Lake.
The triathlon involves swimming, biking and running. Every year the event recognizes an athlete with physical challenges. Nine-year-old Jimbo Reynolds was this year's honoree.
Jimbo was born a qaudraplegic. All of the participants displayed his name on one of their arms. Kids said while the event is a test of endurance, its still lots of fun.
"I guess I feel like I've finished," said Mary-Madison Weaver after the race. "Like I've done it. Even though I'm hurting, I've done it. I've finished."
"It's challenging, hard and fun," said Blake Bambico.
Organizers said the event is not about competition, but about promoting fun, fitness and self confidence. All the kids, no matter where they placed, received a medal.
