Police Shooting Calls Statistics In Longview

Since the first of the year, more than half of the shooting incidents police have responded to have been on Longview's south side. Longview police answered 52 "shots-fired" calls since January. 34 of them have been on Longview's south side. In just the last two months, 13 shooting calls have been answered on the south side. Police are at a loss as to "why" there are more incidents in the south.

"As far as telling you why, we've had an increase in the number of shootings, I can't do that. It's just random stuff, who knows why someone goes out and shoots at an individual or shoots at a house. I can't tell you why they've increased," said Sergeant S.W. Pendleton of the Longview's Police Department.

Police have increased patrols in the south side since June, and plan to continue increased patrols until further notice.
