Fire At Plant Forces Haz-Mat Response

Firefighters in full hazardous materials gear fought a small, but stubborn, fire at a Tyler manufacturing plant Monday.
The Tyler Fire Department says part of a zinc dust collection mechanism caught fire at Insul-Fab on Shiloh Road in South Tyler.  That fire smoldered for hours, and had the potential for producing toxic by-products and fumes.
No one was hurt, but nearby workers were evacuated for the afternoon because firefighters had to wait for the fire to slowly burn itself out.
