Elmwood Gardens is a unique blend of history and beauty. When Dee Dee and Jim Turnage moved from the Houston area to Elmwood ten years ago, they never dreamed that their nineteenth century farm would turn into a popular garden spot visited by hundreds of people.
Dee Dee began gardening to relieve the stress of her job as a Medical Social Worker, but soon found it to be a passion.
Three years ago, the Turnage's opened Elmwood Gardens to the public. The acreage includes a quaint restaurant and emporium, historic bed and breakfast cottages and extensive cottage, rose and cutting gardens. Weddings are held in the beautiful setting almost every weekend.
Elmwood Gardens is located off FM 315 on CR 445, eleven miles north of Palestine. The Garden's fourth annual Butterfly Festival is scheduled for the weekend of September 24th and 25th.
