A company is expected to begin work next week to figure out how to fix the infamous sinkhole in Smith County. Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation say the hole hasn't grown since Thursday, despite Friday morning's rain.
The hole in the ground appeared nearly two weeks ago and has grown to 105 feet wide since. TX DOT says it's in the process of contracting a company, which will determine the best way to fix the road. "We're in negotiations with a consulting firm. Their job will be to come out and take a look at the geology, do some more study. Based on the stuff we've already done, they'll maybe give us a more in-depth picture than what we were able to get before," says Larry Kranz.
