Tyler police ID driver, victim in motorized wheelchair crash

UPDATE:

On Friday, May 19, 2017 at 8:39 a.m., Tyler Police responded to the intersection of SSE Loop 323 and Old Henderson Hwy on a report of a vehicle striking a male in a wheelchair in the crosswalk.

Officers were told that Ryan Wyatt, W/M, age 53 of Tyler was in a wheelchair crossing on the east side of the intersection from north to south in the crosswalk.  Jose Trevizo, H/M, age 26 of Tyler was driving a Black Dodge, Ram Pick-up in the southbound turn lane on Loop 323 turning left onto Old Henderson Hwy. Trevizo did not see Wyatt in the crosswalk striking him as he made his turn.

Wyatt was transported to East Texas Medical Center with serious injuries.  Accident Investigators were called to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Police are responding to a traffic collision involving a person on a motorized wheelchair that occurred Friday in Tyler.

About 8:40 a.m. officers were called to the intersection of East Loop 323 and Old Henderson Highway in response to the crash.

Police say a man in the wheelchair was crossing Old Henderson Highway in the crosswalk when a truck heading south on the loop turned left and struck him.

Police say the man is in critical condition and an investigation is ongoing.
