Sports WebXtra: Cowboys and Texans rookie minicamp update

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Speaking of rookie mini camp, all 32 NFL teams have held their three-day session and next up is organized team activities. We focused on the Cowboys first round pick in defensive end Taco Charlton Sunday night, but a fourth round selection turned some heads over the weekend.

Wide receiver Ryan Switzer is being called a Cole Beasley clone and therefore is Dak Prescott friendly. The North Carolina product is the Tar Heels career
leader in both receptions and receiving yards..

Even if Switzer doesn't see time on offense, the elusive and shifty playmaker can be used as a returner. After all he did have seven punt returns go for touchdowns in college.

Down in Houston, rookie running back D'Onta Foreman is busy learning Bill O'Brien's offense. Sure Foreman is listening to his head coach, but getting
advice from a Hall of Famer is helpful too. Foreman, who won the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award in January, keeps in touch with Campbell.

A third round draft pick, the former Texas running back cherishes his relationship with The Tyler Rose and spoke about it in a recent press conference.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>

The last time we talked about the Kilgore Bulldogs, quarterback Buddy Jackson and wide receiver Jonathan Shepherd were apart of the 800-meter relay team that won gold at the 2017 state track meet. But today they are back in the pads, and looking to turn their speed into touchdowns.  Competing in District 9-4A, Kilgore has always had a strong run game that helped them become the 2016 District Champs.
