White Oak High School Choir Students To Perform In Nation's Capitol

An East Texas high school choir is set to celebrate the Fourth of July in a big way. The White Oak students have the honor of being the only Texas choir to sing at a Washington, D.C. event this weekend.

With just days before they leave, the choir is busy practicing. They'll sing at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday. But before that, the students will also perform in New York City on the USS Intrepid.

"I don't think we are too much, but I think going to a big city, coming from a small town, we're a little bit nervous," says choir member Rhett Pilcher.

"Very exciting. We are very honored to be chosen and the kids are excited and the parents that are going with us are, we're just going to have a wonderful time," says choir director Ruthie Vinson.

The students leave for their trip to New York and Washington, D.C. this Friday.
