Officials release description of Liberty City bank robbery suspect

LIBERTY CITY, TX (KLTV) -

The Gregg County Sheriff's Department has released a description of the man they believe is responsible for the bank robbery at the Liberty City First National Bank of Hughes Springs.

The man is described as Hispanic, in his 40s or 50s, approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall, has a mustache, and is wearing a light colored shirt and faded jeans. Officials say he was carrying a backpack and could possibly be traveling in a white Chevy Avalanche.

According to business manager of Sabine ISD Kevin Yandell, the schools near the scene of the robbery were placed on total lockdown. KLTV has been told by Sabine ISD that the lockdown has now been lifted.

Police are still on the scene and are searching the area nearby.
