NEW DIANA, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas community is remembering a young man, killed in an oil well explosion.

Camron Anthony Hernandez of Diana was killed, and two others were injured Tuesday when a tank exploded just outside of Mansfield, Louisiana.

Crews were in process of cleaning up recent storm damage at the site operated by Aethon Energy.

The explosion is still being investigated. Family and friends say Camron had deep ties to the community, and still had a lot to live for.

The news of Camron's death hit the small close-knit community of Diana hard.

"It kind of took a minute to sink in because you don't think about a man like Camron to be gone that quick. That can't be," said friend Jimmy Swanner.

"His love was my life. he showed me so many great things in how to love, how to truly love. I don't understand at all," said Camrons' girlfriend Whitney Jones.

"I did the same kind of work he did, so I knew the risks, but I just didn't believe it when i got the call," said best friend Sean Conway.

A graduate of New Diana high school, Hernandez loved his community, even pitching in with the fire department to fight fires.

Funny, loyal to friends, and loving, Camron did something that most of us don't do. He just enjoyed life.

"My kids loved him. He's the only friend I had that would take my kids over to his house hang out with them and let them play," says friend Timothy
Swanner.

Friends and family say he had a simple mission in life. To be a good man.

"He didn't want to be, he was a good man. He used to introduce me as his sister. And would say you don't see the resemblance. That was my brother," says classmate Annirese Watson.

And a good husband to the love of his life.

"No ones loved me the way he has. His smile, his laugh," Whitney says.

His loss is a testament to how much one person can mean to so many.

"Honestly I can't think of one person who would have anything bad to say about him," Timothy says.

Camron Hernandez was only 25 but his family says he got the most out of every day.

Funeral arrangements for Hernandez are pending.

A second Diana man injured in that explosion, Colton Hawkins, is recovering in a hospital.
