(KLTV/KTRE) - Anytime there is a holiday, there is candy. When the holiday is over, there is inevitably leftover candy. That's when we have to get creative, if we're opposed to tossing it out.
My one-bowl brownies will come in handy as a vehicle for that candy, but honestly, they're just as fabulous when they're candy-free! They're thick and chewy and have a wonderful dark chocolate flavor!
One-bowl brownies with candy
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup granulated sugar
1 stick salted butter, melted
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup self-rising flour
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine sugar and cocoa; then add butter. When smooth, add eggs, flour and vanilla. Stir just until no more flour is visible and mixture is smooth.
Spread the nice, thick batter into a Pam-sprayed or greased 8" by 8" baking pan. Top with rows of candy, anything from M&Ms to mini-candy bars. Just choose candy that isn't too hard...jawbreakers wouldn't work well here, for example.
Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes, and then cool completely before cutting. (that's the hard part!)
