Tyler Teen Hit By Car, Killed

A Robert E Lee High School student was killed last night, while trying to cross Troup highway in Tyler. It happened at 9:15 last night on highway 110 south, in front of the Green Acres Shopping Center. Police say 15-year-old Kyle Charles Beck failed to yield the right of way trying to cross five lanes of traffic on an electric bike. He was hit by an oncoming BMW.

Word of Kyle's death reached the folks at Robert E. Lee this morning. Principal Rick McDaniel said, "Any time you lose a student at that age, at any age, at the high school, it's a tremendous loss. We certainly recognize the fact that we lost a youngster late that's part of our family and we just, asI said, our condolences go out the friends and family members of that particular family."

Police found no evidence to file charges against the driver involved in the accident.
