DALLAS, TX (KLTV) -

For just the second time in the last 17 years, the Mavericks won't be a part of the NBA playoffs.

But that's not the stunning news. Dirk Nowitzki will definitely be back in 2018 for his 20th season, all of which have been played in Dallas.

That's not the stunning news either. During exit interviews with the media on Thursday, the 38 year-old said its a possibility he will sign another two-year contract after next season if he feels as good as he does right now.

Last month, Nowitzki became just the sixth player in NBA history to reach 30 thousand points.
