(RNN) - Conagra Brands, Inc., have voluntarily recalled Hunt's Chili Kits nationwide over fears that they might be contaminated with Salmonella.

A supplier of one of the ingredients in the spice pack informed the company that it might be contaminated with Salmonella.

There have been no reports of adverse reactions, and no Salmonella has been found in the finished product. Nevertheless, the company has decided to recall the product out of an abundance of caution.

The items recalled are Hunts Chili Kit, 44.8 oz, UPC code 20-0-27000-42063-2 with the following lot codes and best by dates:

  • MFG/Lot Code 3534619500, best by date of April 4, 2018
  • MFG/Lot Code 3534622200, best by date of May 1, 2018
  • MFG/Lot Code 3534619600, best by date of Apr 05, 2018

The product was distributed to retailers, military commissaries and online.

Salmonella bacterium can cause diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps, and can cause severe illnesses among the elderly, infants and those with compromised immune systems.

People who have bought the products should not eat it but return it to the store where it was originally purchased.
