Gospel Band Loses $45,000 In Instruments In Wreck

A follow-up on a fatal wreck this weekend that claimed the life of a Tyler man suspected of drunk driving.

The church group, whose van and trailer were hit by Chad Russell Hill, spoke to KLTV today. They say they lost $45,000 worth of musical instruments, along with the damaged trailer.

The family of seven adults and children are part of a gospel band from Houston. They came to Tyler over the weekend to perform at a church. None of them were injured.

The pastor says his loss is only monetary. He feels sorry for the man who died.

"I feel bad because I see the person," David Robles Rivas, of the group Adonay, said. "I see the face, the person. He's dying in two minutes. I feel bad. I cry because I loved him. I love everybody."

Police are still waiting for toxicology results to determine if Hill was intoxicated.
