1 killed in Rusk County wreck involving 18-wheeler

RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A driver was killed Monday morning in Rusk County when their vehicle crashed into a semi-truck.

About 7:22 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the two-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. 79 in Rusk County, three miles east of the city of Henderson. Sgt. Jean Dark, PIO for the department, said that a preliminary crash investigation shows that a 2014 Ford pickup was traveling west on U.S. 79. A 2016 Freightliner semi-truck was traveling east on the same roadway.

Dark said the driver of the Ford veered into the east lane and struck the Freightliner. The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Jackie Risinger, and the deceased person was taken to Crawford A. Crim funeral home in Henderson.

The next of kin has not yet been notified.

The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured and has been identified as Allen Wesenberg, 30, of Woodville.

The crash remains under investigation.
