SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Smith County officials say a victim in a kidnapping case has been located and appears to be fine. By 3:15 p.m., the suspect was in the custody of law enforcement.

The van and the suspect were located in Smith County in a wooded area off of CRs 455 and 456. The suspect was identified as James Derrick Adams Jr. a white male, 26 years old.

The sheriff's office says the victim is a 37-year-old woman. She was unharmed in the kidnapping, the sheriff said.

Earlier Monday afternoon, Smith County authorities confirmed they were searching for an East Texas man and a possible female victim after a disturbance call near the Enchanted Lakes area on Monday. The call came in from the 23600 block of Live Oak Drive at about 12:40 p.m.

According to Smith County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect kicked in the door of a Lindale residence and took the female by force.

The suspect then drove off with the female in a green minivan with a broken rear window, according Sgt. Darrell Coslin. Coslin said police have identified the suspect and victim but are not releasing names at this time.

According to the sheriff's office, the two individuals were involved in a previous disturbance call that law enforcement officers responded to. Their connection to each other is unknown at this time.
