Longview Man Waits For His New Baby On Father's Day

Father's day is usually celebrated with gifts, cards and family gatherings. But for some, their gift was a new bundle of joy.

There was no card no present no dinner out for Raymond Anderson Sunday. His wife went into labor just before 6 in the morning. "Well it puts a new twist on Fathers day. Theres still the nerve issue there going on," says Raymond.

At Longview Regional hospital, Anderson saw other couples celebrate a new birth, but he continued to wait. "Seems to be a strain on the whole crew all the way around. I can tell everybody that my second little boy was born on Fathers day," says Raymond.

With family and friends keeping tabs on the Andersons, the importance of what was about to take place began to sink in. "I don't see that you can get any better Fathers day gift than to be a father again, it's a real special thing."

Finally after nearly 13 hours of labor, Anderson got his Fathers day gift.

"Next year I'm just going to give him a nice card no more babies for Fathers day," says Raymond's wife.

Joseph Zane Anderson weighed in at 9 pounds and 15-ounces. He was 21 and a half inches long.
