Fourth Earthquake Shakes California

Just hours after a moderate earthquake shook most of Southern California, a strong quake struck off the state's northern coast to become the fourth significant shaker to jolt California this week.

Authorities say a 6.4  magnitude quake about 125 miles west of Eureka overnight was probably an aftershock of the earlier quake. There are no reports of injury or damage from last night's temblor. A Geological Survey official says there's little risk that the latest quake could cause a tsunami.

Tuesday's quake hit off the coast near Crescent City and prompted a brief tsunami warning. Authorities evacuated several thousand people from coastal areas. Another smaller earthquake yesterday was felt through much of Southern California.

Only one injury reported: a woman hit in the head by a falling light fixture. Neither quake caused serious damage. One person was injured
