Michael Jackson's Acquittal

Jackson made no comment as he left the Santa Maria courthouse after the verdict Monday, surrounded by his parents and siblings. He did wave and blow kisses to hundreds of supporters, who screamed, hugged one another and threw confetti when they heard the news.

Supporters of Michael Jackson are euphoric about his acquittal in his molestation trial. The jury's verdict yesterday was broadcast around the world. Even Arab news channels al-Jazeera and al-Arabiya cut to live coverage as Jackson arrived at the courthouse in Santa Maria, California.

One of the jurors who acquitted Michael Jackson on all counts says he believes the pop star "probably" is a molester -- but that it wasn't proven in this case. Another questioned the way Jackson has shared his bedroom and bed with young boys. He said "that doesn't make sense" to him. But, he said, that didn't make Jackson guilty of the charges presented in this case.

The jury foreman, later identified as Paul Rodriguez, said jurors made a plan from the start of deliberations that they were going to treat Jackson like any other individual and avoid being star-struck.

The jurors also had trouble with the prosecution's timeline of events. Prosecutors said Jackson molested the teenage boy while trying to deal with the fallout from a television documentary that prompted outrage over his sleepovers at Neverland.
